Northern California Writing Project is pleased to offer a Professional Development
series for Elementary and Secondary schools. This institute supports teachers
and their students as they meet and exceed state standards. The Northern California
Writing Project is an approved staff development program for No Child Left

safe school plan and provide participating teams with the skills and stategies
necessary to conduct a collaborative safe school plan and produce or update

provide a series of four workshops geared toward School Board Member candidates,
new Board members and other interested parties. The sessions will begin
on Thursday, October 2, 2003 with an overview of Boardsmanship and will
continue weekly through October 23rd. Topics will highlight the roles and
responsibilities of School Board members in the areas of human resources,
negotiations, finance and budgeting, policy and legislation. For additional

Hosted by the California Department of Education (CDE), these events will facilitate school improvement as principals and other administrators share their knowledge, experiences, successful real-world applications, and the how to's of raising student acheivement.
