Food Services (Kitchen Operations)

Welcome to the Shasta County Office of Education - Kitchen Operations. A highly dedicated and well-trained staff carries out the daily task of taking quality food to area preschools, school age facilities, special education classrooms and alternative education sites. (Click here for a list of the sites we serve.) We procure and prepare most food out of Monte Vista Kitchen and the food is then delivered to each site daily.

Meals and snacks are planned carefully to meet target nutrients for growing children as prescribed by the United States Department of Agriculture. Further, local and state standards for food safety must be followed. The internal systems of checks and balances help us meet and exceed these standards while we all stay within budget.

Area school districts often serve meals during the summer months. Please check back in late spring to find a link that will show where summer meals in your neighborhood may be served.
