George Grotefend Scholarship

The George Grotefend Scholarship accepts applications from graduating  high  school seniors who attended all four years of high school in  Shasta  County, and will attend higher education in the State of  California.  The students are selected on the basis of merit and  financial need.

Dr. George Grotefend was a dentist and a member of a prominent Shasta County  pioneer family.  During his lifetime, he involved himself with ranching and  mining in addition to running a very busy dental practice.  Upon his death,  the bulk of his estate was put into a trust to  provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from Shasta County in  Northern California. 

Requirements include:

  • High School Academic Weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Expected Family Contribution >$8,000 (from FAFSA or CA Dream App.)

Applications for this and other North State scholarships are accepted through the North State Scholarship website. 

High school seniors may also check with their Shasta County high school counselor for more information or assistance with the application process.
