College & Scholarship Resources

The AVID Team believes that money for college will follow rigorous academic success. There are many scholarship opportunities for AVID students to pursue.

Finding the right college is a challenging, but important task. When researching different schools, consider student population, academic programs, location, and cost. While it may be difficult to find a school that meets all your needs, finding ones that meet most of your needs will be more realistic. So, decide what is most important and begin your search. You may want to begin by asking your guidance counselor or teacher, or try the Web or library.

Financial aid may come in the form of loans, grants, and scholarships. By taking a loan, you are borrowing money which means that money, plus interest, must be repaid after finishing school. However, grants and scholarships could be considered a gift. Unlike loans, grant and scholarship money is not paid back.
