Student Support Services

Shasta County Office of Education's mission is to ensure all students have equal access to a quality education. Student Support Services supports this mission by providing systems of referral and support to various populations in our community as well as providing programs to ensure our students have access to education in a safe environment. The Shasta County Office of Education's Foster Youth Services provides support around school permanency and transitions for students in foster care to help increase opportunities for academic success for youth in foster placements. Student Services also provides support and resources to the districts of the county to ensure educational rights and protections for children and youth experiencing homelessness. Programs provided through Safe and  Drug Free Schools that prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs play an important part in ensuring all students have access to a safe and drug-free learning environment that supports student achievement. Students experiencing attendance or behavioral problems are referred to the School Attendance Review Board when all attempts at improving the issue at the site have not been successful. Additionally, Shasta County Office of Education is acting as Lead Educational Agency for a four year Federal Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant titled VOICES, Valuing Ongoing Interventions for Community and Educational Success. This grant provides essential intervention and prevention services to be accessed by an additional 5,000 students in our local community through increased counseling services and referrals.
