Distance Learning
The Shasta County Office of Education has been delivering algebra instruction daily to remote schools using video-conference technology. Originally part of a three year EETT (Enhancing Education Through Technology) competitive grant, in the 2008-2009 school year SCOE expanded the program with several districts throughout the north state region.
With the success of the program we are experiencing growth. Additional class offerings will include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Spanish and French.
Distance learning programs eliminate costly travel, combine the small classes with multiple school sites, and expand opportunities for student learning.
The number one reason schools choose our service is the difficulty of hiring highly qualified teachers.
If there is significant demand for other classes, we will try to meet that need as well.
