Student Service Opportunities

Shasta Week of Service (SWOS), October 25th - 29th, provides sites with resources and an outline to serve their schools and communities. The purpose of SWOS is to engage Shasta County students, school staff and citizens in a high quality meaningful service activity that positively impacts the school or community, during a short-targeted timeframe. In collaboration with AmeriCorps Volunteers, schools can complete a service project during the week of October 25th – 30th, which aligns with the National Make A Difference Day, held on October 23rd. Participating schools will receive recognition at the Serve and Learn Showcase.

The Serve and Learn Showcase was held on March 31st, 2010. Posterboards displaying student projects were highlights of the event. This year's showcase will be held in conjunction with the Youth Leadership Summit

Over 150 participants were involved in the March 31st Youth Leadership Summit and Serve & Learn Showcase. Check out the YLS 2010 video for inspirational footage about the future of service and the power of our youth!

The 2011 Youth Leadership Summit will be held on March 31, 2011 at the Gaia Hotel. Register your youth leadership team to network with other students in the region and engage in service -related activities and conversation. The Serve and Learn Partnership is sponsoring registration for teams from Shasta County.
