As a regional leader in outdoor education since 1970, WES has served thousands of students but the program may come to an end as a result of the deficits in the state education budget. Visionaries are needed right now.
Monetary contributions and in-kind donations are both welcome and will help us reduce our bottom line and reserve funds for student programming. DONATION WISH LIST
Immediate impact on overhead:
- Food Service Supplier
- Office Supplies - Paper
- Graphics & Printing – student journals, posters, teacher, parent & counselor handbooks, health forms, applications 3,000 each, approximate cost savings $4,000
- Instructional Supplies – nets (15 large @ $20.00 ea, 15 small @ $3.77) and viewers (60 @ $11.89) for pond/water study
- Gear – 30 items each: water bottles ($1.27), aqua shoes ($12.99), daypacks, hard hat liners ($9.09) 10 items each: daypacks ($32.50)
- Advertising - $2,000
The following items will help reduce funds spent on utilities:
- Propane – (costs $250 to $500 monthly to fill tanks x 4 tanks)
- On demand water heaters (4) and/or propane tank
- Timers for cabin heaters (19)
- Solar light tubes (estimated 19) for office and Hatcher Hall
- Carpeting and insulating pad for office
- Insulated windows (7)
Longer term impact on overhead:
- Professional Development Materials for staff (estimated $200)
- Carpentry skills and lumber, reconstruction of cabin stairs
- Paint (tan) and labor for cabins
- Picture frames for National Park Posters in cabins (size list available)
- New bunk beds (17)
- Tool shed for maintenance
- Sound/acoustical board for Hatcher Hall
