The George Grotefend Scholarship provides funding for students who attended all four years of high school in Shasta County. Applications are accepted from high school seniors who are preparing to attend higher education in the State of California.
Dr. George Grotefend was a dentist and a member of a prominent Shasta County pioneer family. During his lifetime, he involved himself with ranching and mining in addition to running a very busy dental practice. Upon his death, the bulk of his estate was put into a trust to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from Shasta County in Northern California.
Applications are accepted through the North State Scholarship website where you will also see scholarships offered by The McConnell Foundation, Shasta Regional Community Foundation and College Options.
If you are eligible for multiple scholarships you will be able to import your information from one application to the next. The system will allow you to work on an application, save your work, and return to complete your application.
High school seniors may also check with their Shasta County high school counselor for more information or assistance with The George Grotefend Scholarship application process.
