Facts on Education in Shasta County

School districts in Shasta County operate autonomously with their own governing boards and appointed superintendents. The Shasta County Office of Education is a service organization and an intermediate unit between local districts and the California State Department of Education.

The Shasta County Office of Education provides a wide range of services to 25 local school districts and one community college. These include business, data processing, personnel, administrative, psychological, nursing and community health, curricular assistance, graphics/printing, and information technology.

The County Office also provides programs for special education students, at-risk youth, child development, School-to-Career/ Vocational Education, Whiskeytown Environmental School, Camp Latieze, and the Schreder Planetarium. For more information about these programs call (530) 225-0227.
