1. Make a list of some of the things parents say to children that they shouldn't say. In the left hand cloumn, negative parental statements

2. See if you can think what a parent should say instead. Write positive alternatives on the right-hand side of the sheet.

3. Remember: Children have rights too. You can't expect them to do what you want all the time. You have to go their way sometimes. You have, at least to let them have their say. Communication is a two-way street!
