Welcome to Information Technology Department of the Shasta County Office of Education. Our team operates a mix of computer systems and software, which support educational technology and administrative services for all school districts.

The Information Technology department is responsible for the management of the technology infrastructure for SCOE and its remote sites, including phone services, network services and all related equipment.

The department manages the Wide Area Network for our school districts. By housing the CENIC connection for the county, we manage the largest band width north of Chico.

Application Services

Information Technology provides applications services in the areas of database administration, system administration, research and development for a variety of software applications.


The E-Rate, the Schools and Libraries Universal Service Support Mechanism, provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications and Internet access.

Three service categories are funded:

  • Internet Access
  • Internal Connections Other than Basic Maintenance
  • Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections

Internet Services

The Shasta County Office of Education is a node site for the K12 High Speed Network (K12HSN ). The K12HSN is a part of CENIC's CalREN Backbone which provides high speed Internet access to colleges and universities throughout the state.

Network Services

We provide many Network Operations Services to client districts. Although all districts utilize technology, the magnitude of technology related needs does not always sustain a full-time on-site IT staff. By providing these services, we provide a cost effective solution to a specific need.


Along with 21st Century technology comes a variety of policies and regulations created internally or thru legistlature.
