SARB

The local School Attendance Review Board (SARB) works directly with students and their parents to resolve issues with attendance and/or behavior. The SARB process within Shasta County is extremely effective due to the commitment, cooperation, and support of compassionate individuals beginning at the school site up to and including the Court.

The goal of SARB is to reduce or eliminate a student's truancy and excessive school absences and to increase their opportunity for school success.

Shasta County Office of Education has an ongoing commitment to both local and county School Attendance Review Boards. County and local SARBs were established by Education Code 48321 to:

  • maximize the use of all available resources and services
  • avoid unnecessary duplication of resources to resolve attendance and behavior problems, and
  • divert from the juvenile justice system students with school-related problems.

Thanks to all who work so many hours to keep children in school. Your efforts and support are greatly appreciated.
