Transportation

The SCOE Transportation Department operates a diverse and comprehensive transportation system, and we provide school bus transportation services to various programs within Shasta County.

The County Office operates a fleet of 30 school buses transporting more than 230 students of all ages to special education programs operated by the County Office and 13 school districts, at 26 school sites, in Shasta County. We also provide transportation to Chrysalis Charter School.

SCOE employs 27 commercial drivers, 26 of whom are school bus drivers. Safety is our priority; our fleet travels more than 380,000 miles annually. The County Office school bus drivers maintain an excellent safety record.

Our department has two State Certified Instructors on staff to provide ongoing training to our school bus drivers and drivers in outside districts. We offer professional training and assistance in providing original and renewal classroom instruction as well as behind-the-wheel training to districts operating without an instructor, to maintain an adequate number of school bus drivers in our county.  Our goal is to provide the training needed to help every driver pass their tests.

In addition, we have 9 school district contracts to provide Field Trip transportation in addition to Chrysalis and our own SCOE programs.

Our department employs 2 Dispatcher/Schedulers. We are open from 5 am to 5:30 pm. Our dispatchers are the backbone of our operations. They make the magic happen to get students routed on buses as promptly as possible.
