Shasta County Schools
Shasta County, a region full of natural resources, none as important as our children. In the north state we take our education seriously; constantly striving to develop lifelong learners by ensuring access to quality education; teaching every child every day so that they can succeed in tomorrow’s world.

Our County's commitment is embodied by the Shasta Promise: Every student in Shasta County will graduate prepared for education beyond high school. Those students who complete minimum college preparatory or community college transfer requirements will receive guaranteed admission from all of the participating institutions of higher education.

- Schreder Planetarium
  Participants are transported through the solar system to far away galaxies. Engaging programs blend science, technology, engineering, mathematics and imagination.
- Who We Work With?
  Partnering with local superintendents, we developed unified goals centered on collaboration and support for all 25 school districts in Shasta County.
Instructional Services
- Professional Learning and Leadership Support Services
  Our purpose is to provide high quality professional development and other resources to help our districts develop effective instructional systems that help our students thrive scholastically. We also provide Preliminary and Clear Administrative Services credentials, leadership development and technical services to local schools and School Leadership Teams.
- Early Childhood Services
  We provide quality early care and education programs, resources and supports for children & families, and their teachers or care providers.
  
  Student Support Services
  Supporting alternative education; special education; foster and homeless youth; after school; supplemental tutoring; and School Attendance Review Boards.
Administrative Services
- Business Services
  Provide fiscal & operational services to our district partners, internally for SCOE programs, as well as processing payroll for the county schools
- Human Resources
  Provides support within the realm of recruitment, retention, relations, and benefits.
- Information Technology
  Acts as the K12 High Speed Network node site for the county
- Transportation
  Transports our county's precious cargo to and from school each day

Shasta County Spelling Bee

2022 Shasta County Spelling Bee Champions

The Shasta County Office of Education (SCOE) is pleased to host the Shasta County Spelling Bee 2023 competition! The spelling bee is open for Shasta County students in grades 4-9.

SCOE will host two county spelling bees:

Shasta County Elementary Spelling Bee (Grades 4-6)

March 22nd, 2023 at McLaughlin Auditorium, Sequoia Middle School.
Check-in begins at 12:30 pm. Competition starts promptly at 1:00 pm.

Shasta County Junior High Spelling Bee (Grades 7-9)

March 23rd, 2023 at McLaughlin Auditorium, Sequoia Middle School.
Check-in begins at 12:30 pm. Competition starts promptly at 1:00 pm.

How To Qualify

Each school must register its participant(s) by March 10, 2023. It is up to each school staff to determine how they select their participants for the county bees. Any competition a school uses is acceptable.

Each school may send two students to their respective divisions of the bee. Schools that have students in grades 4-8, or any other combination of elementary & junior high grades, may send two students to the elementary bee and two students to the junior high bee.

Participation

Registration is done solely online. If your school would like to participate in one, or both of the Shasta County Spelling Bees, please complete the registration by March 10, 2023. There is a registration fee of $25.00 per speller.

Students will not be allowed to compete in the spelling bee unless registration has been submitted online by Friday, March 10th 2023.

Winners

Two students will be selected to represent Shasta County in each division of the State spelling bee which will be held in San Joaquin County. Date to be confirmed.
