George Grotefend Scholarship
The George Grotefend Scholarship provides funding for students who attended all four years of high school in Shasta County, and are planning to attend a four year university. Applications are accepted from high school seniors who are preparing to attend higher education in the State of California.
Dr. George Grotefend was a dentist and a member of a prominent Shasta County pioneer family. During his lifetime, he involved himself with ranching and mining in addition to running a very busy dental practice. Upon his death, the bulk of his estate was put into a trust to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from Shasta County in Northern California.
Application available on November 1, 2019.
The George Grotefend Board, following the wishes of George Grotefend in his Trust of 1952, accepts scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors. The Board was designated by the Trust to choose deserving students who: have attended all four years of high school in Shasta County; will attend higher education in the State of California; and have demonstrated financial need.

2. Have attended all four years of high school in Shasta County
3. Be on schedule to graduate on time in the current school year
4. Be planning to attend a four-year college/university in the State of California
5. Exhibit financial need as demonstrated by an Expected Family Contribution less than $8,000 (from FAFSA)
