Grotefend Scholarship

The George Grotefend Scholarship provides funding for students who attended all four years of high school in Shasta County. Applications are accepted from high school seniors who are preparing to attend higher education in the State of California.

About Dr. Grotefend

Dr. George Grotefend was a dentist and a member of a prominent Shasta County pioneer family. During his lifetime, he involved himself with ranching and mining in addition to running a very busy dental practice. Upon his death, the bulk of his estate was put into a trust to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduates from Shasta County in Northern California.

Eligibility Requirements

Current High School Seniors who are on schedule to graduate

Attendance all four years of high school in a Shasta County high school

High School Academic Weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher

Expected Family Contribution >$8,000 (from FAFSA or CA Dream App.)


Applications are accepted through the North State Scholarship website where you will also see scholarships offered by The McConnell Foundation, Shasta Regional Community Foundation and College Options.

If you are eligible for multiple scholarships you will be able to import your information from one application to the next. The system will allow you to work on an application, save your work, and return to complete your application.
