Special Education

The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) provides Special Education services for local districts to assure that students have full access to growth oriented and balanced educational opportunities. We operate these specialized programs at the request of our local school districts. We also operate specialized programs for students who are deaf and hard of hearing, visually impaired or have orientation/mobility challenges.

It is the individualized Educational Plan Team, usually comprised of the parent/legal guardian and specialized school personnel, who decide the type of placement or services a student may be provided. Referrals are made solely by a student's district of residence when a more intensive educational setting is needed.

Every student can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way.
