You and your family may be eligible to receive CalFresh benefits even if you work full time. CalFresh assists low or no-income families in purchasing healthy foods.

The amount of Calfresh dollars your household receives is determined by your income, expenses, and family size.

Benefits come on an Electronic Benefit (EBT) Card that is used like a debit card. CalFresh can be used at grocery stores and farmer’s markets that accept EBT cards. In addition to purchasing healthy foods with your EBT card, you can also buy seeds and plants used to grow food.

To apply, you’ll need to complete an application and have these documents available:

• Identification: Driver’s license, or an I.D Card.
• Proof of Income: Pay stubs, child support orders, and benefit statements.
• Proof of Expenses: Your rent receipts, mortgage statements, utility bills,
  child care receipts, child support payments, etc.
• Other items requested by your eligibility worker.

We are a Training Center for Red Cross. We provide Basic CPR and First Aid. We also provide the 16 hour Health and Safety training required by Community Care Licensing. (4 hr CPR, 4 hr First Aid and 8 hr Health and Safety which includes the new 1 hr of nutrition)

If you are a licensed or licensed exempt (Trustline cleared) Family Child Care Provider in Shasta, Siskiyou or Tehama county you are eligible to enroll in the Child and Adult Care Food Program and receive reimbursement for meals served to the children in your care.

School Nursing

School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. School nurses are involved in screening students for treatable conditions such as vision, hearing, Scoliosis, oral health concerns, as well as managing students' health care needs while in school. We collaborate with school staff, community resources, and other health care providers to ensure optimum health for our students.  Shasta County Office of Education provides school nurse services for SCOE programs: Excel, Shasta County Independent Study school, Juvenile Hall, SCOE state preschools, Early Intervention programs 0-5 years old.

We also contract with school districts to provide school nurse services or mentoring services to new school nurses in school districts that need extra support.
